Eligible employees are provided with employer paid Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD).

Howard values the time you invest at the university. We invite you to explore your paid time off and unpaid leave options that aim to help you manage medical needs for you and your family.

Allows you to pay for certain eligible pre-tax dollars. FSA accounts are established on a “use it or lose it” basis, meaning if you do not use the money contributed each year, your remaining funds will be forfeited.

The HSA is a special tax-exempt savings account that lets you save money on a pre-tax basis that you can use for eligible health care expenses now and in the future. You may contribute to your HSA using pre-tax dollars through payroll deduction. To contribute to a HSA you must be enrolled in the Consumer Drive Health Plan (CDHP).

Comprehensive basic life insurance is offered to employees to help protect their income in an unforeseen event. Howard pays the full cost of Basic Life and AD&D coverage.

Outside of annual Open Enrollment, you may change your medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account benefits, and supplemental life benefits within 30 days of experiencing a qualifying life event.

Eligible employees/retirees must maintain "good academic" standing (as defined in published documents by the Office of Enrollment Management) while receiving remission of tuition benefits.
