BisonHub Learning offers an array of on-demand courses to foster professional development. This month, we're featuring the BisonHub 101 Program as our resource of the month.

Program Overview

We aspire for Excellerate HU! to provide professional development support to further Howard's leadership success and increase their ability to grow and develop others. Through our innovative practices and programming, university leaders and self-leaders will be able to implement best practice on campus with support, collaboration, and the implementation of consistent leadership practices.​

Senior Leaders Cohort

We recognize that cultivating high performance begins with our leaders at the highest levels. HU Leaders must create work environments where staff can thrive and do their best work to advance HU's goals and objectives. The senior leader track will focus on building leaders' capability to create, inspire, motivate, and sustain high-performing teams. The senior leaders' program consists of monthly three-hour sessions from September 2024 through April 2025. These sessions will include a mix of exciting guest speakers and activities to help our leaders build relationships and develop their skills. In addition to these sessions, each cohort member will participate in peer group exercises and supplemental learning.  Please come prepared to share best practices, refresh your knowledge palette, and learning new skills.

A senior leader at Howard University, holding a position of director or higher, is a key executive responsible for shaping and executing the university's strategic vision.

Managers Cohort

This program will provide valuable training to increase manager effectiveness and departmental productivity. Managers will learn skills essential for upskilling and developing their teams professionally. The program consists of monthly three-hour sessions from September 2024 through April 2025. 

A manager at Howard University is an individual who acts as a bridge between senior management and the operational staff.

Enterprise University Learning

The Excellerate HU! Professional Development program is designed to empower all leaders and self-leaders within the institution with the foundational skills and knowledge to align with the university's mission. Program participants will participate in virtual sessions, workshops, and peer learning communities to enrich their connection with Truth and Service, serving their customers effectively, adapting to change, and continuously enhancing their professional capabilities.

The HU Leadership is a quarterly meeting designed to meet the following objectives: (1) enhance alignment, collaboration, and connection among Howard University leaders; (2) increase the enterprise leadership team’s awareness, understanding, and support for university initiatives; and (3) strengthen leadership capability to build strong team cultures and performance.
